How should I prepare for my first treatment?

I understand that coming in for a Reiki session can be a little nerve-wracking. That's why I want to remind you to arrive 5 minutes early and take a few moments to clear your mind. Also, please make sure to wear something comfortable so that you can fully relax during your session. Don't forget to drink water and nourish your body with some great food beforehand. What is Reiki?

Reiki is a wonderful natural energy healing modality that can help you balance your body's energy fields. It gently works to support your body's own healing abilities, allowing you to feel more relaxed, centered, and rejuvenated.

How does Reiki work?

Reiki is a wonderful healing practice that can help restore balance to your body's energy fields. I understand that disruptions in the flow of life force energy can cause physical, emotional, or spiritual imbalances, which can lead to illness or other health problems. However, during a Reiki treatment, the practitioner gently places their hands on or near your body to channel energy, with the aim of balancing and unblocking the flow of life force energy. This can help your body's natural healing processes, promote relaxation, and reduce stress and anxiety. I know that many people have reported feeling improved mood, better sleep, and an overall sense of well-being after a Reiki treatment. What should I wear to my treatment?

During a Reiki session, it's recommended to wear comfortable clothing as you will be lying on a massage table. Shoes are not required, and blankets and pillows will be provided to ensure your maximum comfort. Please note that you will remain fully dressed throughout the session.

How will i feel afterwards?

I understand that after our Reiki session, you may feel as though you have just awoken from a peaceful nap or feel light and refreshed. It's quite common for most people to leave feeling extremely relaxed and at ease. The calming effects of Reiki can be felt for a couple of days afterwards, and I encourage you to take it easy and avoid any stressful activities to allow your body to fully rest and restore. Moreover, it's normal to experience a restful night's sleep after a Reiki session. Remember to take care of yourself and let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Can I have Reiki if I am receiving medical treatment for an illness/ medical condition?

I completely understand your concerns. It's good to know that Reiki can be used alongside any other treatments you may already be receiving for your injury or illness. It's always important to explore all the options available to you and make the best decision for your health and well-being.  Reiki is a gentle care plan that can be combined with any conventional and natural therapy. It supports the reduction of the stress felt by a client from the side-effects of medicines, treatments, surgery, chronic medical conditions and disorders.
It is advisable that clients inform their doctor they are having Reiki treatments so that they are aware of any additional care plan that the client is choosing.
Reiki practitioners will take extra care if the client has injury, hemorrhage, bone fracture or a pacemaker, and they may by-pass the area or place their hands off the body.
It is very important for clients to inform their Reiki practitioner of all their medical conditions before receiving treatment.

Are there any side effects?

When you release any blocked energy in your body, your liver and kidneys work to filter out any stored toxins. This process may result in a slight headache, stomach ache, or feeling a little tired. To help your body cleanse itself, it is always recommended to drink plenty of water after a treatment and avoid doing anything too strenuous. Remember that this natural process is an important part of the healing process.

Where is Reiki from?

Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki, a holistic treatment that originated in Japan in the 1920s, was founded by Mikao Usui, a wise philosopher and Buddhist who trained over 2,000 students. Today, this powerful and transformative practice continues to inspire and heal people all over the world.

Is there anything else I should know?

When it comes to Reiki sessions, it's understandable to feel a bit apprehensive. That's why I want you to know that your comfort and wellbeing are my top priority. During the session, I'll make sure to explain everything in detail so that you know exactly what to expect and feel relaxed throughout the entire process.
If at any point during the session, you experience any discomfort, whether physical or emotional, please don't hesitate to let me know. I'm here to help, and I want to make sure that you feel as comfortable as possible. If you need to use the restroom or fall asleep during the session, that's perfectly okay too.
After the session is over, I'll be sure to give you specific advice on how to best care for yourself. Drinking plenty of water, avoiding too much caffeine or alcohol, and taking it easy are all important steps in the healing process. It's also normal to experience some physical or emotional release, so please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any concerns or questions. Remember, I'm here to support you every step of the way.

How much does a Reiki session cost usually?

In New Zealand, the cost of a Reiki session usually falls between $50 and $150, varying with the practitioner's expertise and the location of the session.
